Create your first video
Making a video in WideCast is a short guided flow: tell it what the video is about, choose how it should sound and look, and let the AI build a draft you then review. Here is the whole path, using an idea as the starting point.
Start from the home screen
Sign in at widecast.ai. The home screen shows three cards: Production Plan (your saved topics and drafts), Setup AI Agent, and Creator Tools. Click Creator Tools to create a video.
Pick a source
The Creator Tools panel lists the ways a video can start: Idea to Video, Script to Video, Blog/Article to Video, Remake Video, Audio to Video, Voiceover Video, Top Videos on YouTube, Auto-Edit Video, Bulk Upload, and Make Tutorial/Guide Video.
For a first video, choose Idea to Video.
Describe your idea
Type a sentence or two into the Describe your idea box, for example "How to buy your first home", then press Next.
No topic in mind? Click Ideation with AI to open Browse Trending Video Topics, press Show Me Ideas, and pick one from the list instead of typing your own.
Choose the output settings
The Output settings screen sets up the result before any credits are spent:
- Output Language and Talking Style.
- Deep research, fact and compliance check: WideCast researches your topic against real sources before writing. This check is built into every run.
The credit cost of the run is shown at the top. Press Next to start.
Watch the workflow run
The Workflow panel tracks four steps: Topic Discovery, Deep Research, and Video Script run as AI agents, and Scenes is marked "You & AI" because you get to review before it finishes. A floating card shows the estimated time (usually a few minutes) with the note "Feel free to do other tasks": you can leave the page and the run continues.
Review your script
When the Video Script step finishes, it shows Tap to edit. Open it to read the script in the Script Editor, tweak any line, then choose how the video gets made:
- Scene by scene: WideCast builds the scenes and finds B-roll footage automatically (this uses 2 credits). Pick Faceless for a video without you on camera, or On camera to include yourself.
- Full recording: keep the script and record the whole thing yourself with the camera and teleprompter.
While it generates
Back on the home screen, your video appears under Recent with a live badge: Generating with a percentage while scenes are built, then Ready to Edit when the scenes are done (or Ready to Record if you chose the recording path). If something goes wrong the badge shows Failed.
When the badge says Ready to Edit, click the video: its script screen opens first, and pressing Video there takes you into the scene editor to polish it. That part is covered in Scene editor basics.
Common questions
How do I create my first video in WideCast?
Sign in at widecast.ai, click the "Creator Tools" card, choose "Idea to Video", describe your idea, press "Next", pick your output settings, and press "Next" again. The AI researches the topic, writes the script, and builds the scenes while you watch the workflow progress.
What can I turn into a video?
Creator Tools accepts many starting points: an idea, a ready script, a blog or article, an existing video to remake, an audio file, a voiceover, top YouTube videos on a topic, auto-editing your footage, bulk uploads, and tutorial or guide videos.
I have no idea what to make a video about. Can WideCast suggest topics?
Yes. In the "Idea to Video" screen click "Ideation with AI" to open "Browse Trending Video Topics", then press "Show Me Ideas". You can also keep a backlog of topics in the Production Plan on the home screen.
How long does it take to generate a video?
Usually a few minutes. The workflow card shows an estimated time and says "Feel free to do other tasks": you can close the page and come back. On the home screen the video shows "Generating" with a percentage until it is done.
What does the "Ready to Edit" status mean?
The scenes and footage for your video are generated and waiting for you. Click the video, press "Video" on the script screen that opens, and you land in the scene editor to review each scene and export when happy.
What does the "Ready to Record" status mean?
Your script is ready but the video expects your own recording. Open it to record yourself reading the script with the built-in camera and teleprompter.
What is the difference between "Full recording" and "Scene by scene"?
"Full recording" keeps your script and you record the entire video yourself on camera. "Scene by scene" has WideCast build the video for you, scene by scene with B-roll footage, and uses 2 credits.
What does "Faceless" mean when generating scenes?
A faceless video is built entirely from footage, images, and text, with a voiceover but without you (or an avatar) on camera. Choose "On camera" instead if you want a narrator in the frame.
What does the "Deep research, fact and compliance check" do?
Before writing the script, the AI researches your topic and checks facts against real sources, so the narration quotes accurate, current information. It is built into every video run, so there is nothing you need to switch on.
My video shows "Failed". What should I do?
Open Creator Tools and run the video again; occasional generation runs do fail. If the same video fails repeatedly, contact support through "Live Support" in the profile menu so the team can look at the run.
